Term 1 highlights
This year one of the things the we were learnt was to have the ability to right PMI’S, it was a bit challenging but I enjoyed the typing, PMP is having a title such as it’s better if everything was free and you would think of good things about the subject and then think of bad things to Wright.
We also learnt about Geometry about learning measuring Angles, how to use a protractor, Volume, area, and parameter, I liked learning how to measure Angles and everything else but I especially liked learning how to use a protractor.
And we learnt about the body as well we learnt the names of the bones like the Femur, Fibular, Pelvis, Ulna, spinal column, Cranium, Clavicle, Radios, Fibula, Tibia, and Phalanges we learnt about the muscles in the body as well.
Every single year we go to beach ED and we go through the same routine every single year so beach ED is getting quit boring and I don’t enjoy it much as I used to 2 years a go, all we do is go inside listen to the instructors interdiction then they take us for a tour around the surf life saving stuff and tell us the names of the things that they show us then they show us the same video that they show us every year then we play sea weed and then we all go for a free swim in the sea witch is about the only thing that is fun to do.
I reckon that Art is quit fun it’s one of my favourite activity at school Physical Education is my favourite activity I liked doing the portraits of yourselves mine turned out really good we used colure pencil to do the colour of our faces and I used black for my background other people said it rewind my portrait but I liked it and thought that it looked like I wanted it to look like when I was finished and now we have to put all of our pictures on the wall so people that come to our school can see what we have done.
I enjoy athletics a lot so I am in the Eltham athletic club and I go to athletics on Saturday for a Saturday sport in the summer when I went to the athletics at Toko School the first event we did was discuss and I didn’t get anywhere in that event and I didn’t get anywhere in shot put either but then I got 4 first and one third, also at school e do athletics for Physical Education some times.
For reading we do typing practise on tux typing and we have to read a novel for about thirty five minutes and then we write a story for our blogs I enjoy reading I bit as well.
I really enjoy tennis as well last year I asked mum if I could join a tennis team and she said that I could so this year I joined the Douglas tennis team and we were put in the B grade and we beat every team in the B grade by quit a bit accept Kaimata we didn’t beet them by much so us and Kaimata got moved up to the A grade and it is a bigger challenge for us.

IN THE BIG HOLIDAYS
In the big holidays we were going to go to lake Taupo, when we where packing I asked mum if I could bring my PSP and she said I could so I packed my PSP into my bag we loaded every thing into the car and we were on our why to Taupo I had the map and was telling dad what roads to go on. When we were half way there dad stopped and showed us were he went to dog trials once and he showed us were all the events were being held on the day. When we got to Taupo we went and found were we were going to stay soon we were in our motel that we booked for we unpacked everything out of the car put we turned the TV on and watched some tennis.
After the game of tennis was finished me and Rhys went up to were you check in to the motel and we paid twenty dollars to hire the tennis courts down the bottom of the top ten holiday park so the lady gave us the keys to unlock the gate to get into the tennis courts, at first me and Rhys were playing by our selves but then mum and dad came down after about half an hour.
After playing tennis for an hour we went for a drive down to the supermarket and got some food and supplies then we drove past the bungee jumping area and dad said that one day we would go watch some people jump off over the Waikato River. When we got back to our motel I got my PSP out of the car and started to play smash court tennis 3.
The next day I got up and turned the TV on and watched Disney channel. When Rhys woke up I was playing PSP and he asked if he could have a turn on it so I gave it to him, after the battery went flat we put it on the charger and we went to have a look at the people doing the bungee jump over the Waikato river were you pay for a jump there was a video of people doing the bungee jump then we left to go to the sports centre to go in the go for a swim in the heated swimming pool inside it. When we were back at the motel me and Rhys went over to this big trampoline there its like a big rubber shaped pillow that is rubber.
On day 4 we went into town and went to a place called rapids jets, it’s a place were you can get to go in the get boat and you go through heaps of big rapids in the Waikato river, in one part of the ride we went though such a big rapid that we did a big jump when we were going over it was so much fun and at the end we were all soaked and we had to change cloths.
On day 5 we were at a café and on our way back to the motel we saw some people parasailing over Lake Taupo we stopped and watched people parasailing for quit a while then mum and dad decided for us to have a go as well so the people in charge of it took us out on the water, me and mum were the first ones to go up first(dad couldn’t go up because it would cost to muck for all of us to go up)it was a big trill when you are up there it feels like you are flying by your self and we took heaps of pictures of us in the ear and we also bought a photo album of us in the ear because the people that were in charge were on the boat taking pictures of us. And then on day 7 we packed everything and went back home.

IT'S BETTER LIVING IN THE COUNTRY
I believe living in the country is better for fitness, me, parents and grandparents. And I am going to tell you why and you will agree after you here this.
The country is better for fitness because there are heaps of hills to climb and you have to walk a long way to move stock. Me and Rhys ride our bikes down to the new wool shed a lot because we have a proper table tennis table down there in the shed. Also we go possum trapping in bush that is sometimes 2 or 3 kilometres away from home and we have to bike on the road up hill to go and check our 10 possum traps and we pluck then for possum fur and we sell it when we have 2 or 3 kilograms. And for cross country I just run around the field and up and down the hill a couple of times.
The country is better for me because I can build your own huts on the farm and it’s better because you can have more fun on the farm with your friends because there is more stuff to do. Also instead of swimming in the swimming pool in town we can swim in the river just below our house. You get to have a lot more pets than you do in town because there’s more room for sheep, calves, eels and dogs. I get to have pet eels because we have a pond and a river by my house and some nights I go down to the pond and feed the eels some cold raw meat and one of the eels is so friendly that it comes up to you and you can stroke it with out worrying about him biting you. Sometimes I can lift nearly his whole body out of the water. I have a dog could Pride and she’s a heading dog one day I want her to grow up to be a dog that I will take to the dog trials and beat some other adult contestants.
Our parents sometimes get petrol delivered to them by a big petrol truck, and you can work with heaps of animals as your job. Dad likes it in the country because he gets to work with his dogs. Also we get meat cheaper here than in town at the shops. Mum and Dad like bringing me and Rhys up where there are no gangsters and no bad people. Also they like not having noisy people next door like some people that live in the city. There’s not as much pollution here than there is in town.
Also our grandparents can come out and give their dogs some practise with some sheep on our hills to train their dogs for dog trials. My grandparents like coming to the country because they like the fresh air as well. Granddad Joe likes animals to and so does Granddad Brian. And Granddad Brian and Granddad Joe like helping dad on the farm.
I hope now you understand why it’s better in the country now I have talked to you about, fitness, why it’s better for me, our parents and our grandparents.

Ten year olds should be allowed to drive
Why 10 year olds should be allowed to drive
Police would have to deal with heaps of car crashes, because a lot of ten year olds would not know how to drive so they will run into each other.
Also parents would have trouble coping with the death of their children.
Hospitals would have to find a lot more doctors and nurses because there would be a lot more patients to deal with.
Car shops would probably run out of cars because heaps of kids would want a car.
Also if I was allowed to drive it would be a high risk of me crashing into something because even if I was a really good driver someone that’s not a good driver could come round the corner and crash into me and cause series injury or death.

Pets day
Saturday was pets day, and I jumped out of bed got changed got Jack’s brush went outside to Jack’s hut to wake him up and then I started to make him as white as I could.
Afterwards Rhys and Dad came outside and helped me put Jack on the back of the truck. And of we went.
I got to stand on the back of the truck with Jack and Strawberry. When we got there we got strawberry and Jack off the truck. We tied the pets up to a peg by all the other pets. I went around looking at other pets. Then the judge called to start the leading. Shane was up first then Kelly then me, Jack hadn’t been doing well at leading at home but he did all right on pets day. Once the lambs were finished leading it was time for calling, but Jack didn’t go very well at that, he seemed to be more interested in a peace of grass.
Then it was the calves turn for leading. Rhys led Strawberry around the square, he did well. Then it was time for the rearing contest and Rhys won that. Straight away the goats were going around the ring. Koren with Milkyway and Kristal with Billy. After the events were finished and we had lunch and competed for prizes in the gala games. I won the basketball shot and gumboot throw. Then we went over to the hall for the Pavlova competition. All the kids were there examining the pavs, then the voting started. Most of the adults liked my Dads pav.
The votes won my dad the Plonket Shield which a toilet seat! Then we packed up and went home.

One of my best friends came around to my place
In the holidays Angus came around to my place .First we tryed to move the pet sheep but that didn't work out as we planed because thay got though an open gate. then we went down to the pond. And it didn't work out very well. Angus said he wanted to go on our small island. I said not to because it is a sinking island and he got a full gumboot so he had to use one of my old gumboots for the rest of the day while he was waiting for his own gumboots to dry out.

Today we had technology at Makahu school and we made desks for our two computers.
In our group was Connie, Justin, Roma and Maddy. What we had to do was follow the intructions with no words and it was very hard.
Connie read out the numbers on the boards so we know witch ones went where. Since there were two teams we had to have a race and our team finished second but had the best score for building.
Now they are in the classroom with the computers on them.

Te Wera Camp
The day had come; I mean the day we go to Te Wera. The bus arrived, I was actually late so the bus had to come up the drive way so I wouldn’t be too late to Te Wera, I brought my tamagotchi to play with on the bus. I got heaps of points playing the games that were on it, and so did every body else.
When we got to Te Wera camp we played relays on the play ground, the first thing you had to do in the relay was do the rock climb then slide down the other end on a rope, after that bit of relay we did a thing called a rope bridge, then their were the jungle bars which you had to climb on the bars then the rope climb over to the other side and then last of all we had to the use a rope to help us get up a wall and then slide down the other end.
The whistle blew for us to come inside, inside Carolynne told us the about the activities we were going to do and where they were.
Then we met Mr Archer and he told us how to collect insects out of the river by using a sieve and a scrubbing brush, he told us that you use the scrubbing brush to scrub the edge of the of the grass in the stream and put the sieve in front of the brush so you catch the insects.
Then we went down to the stream and caught heaps of insects and put them into the container on the bank, we had turns at catching the insects in the stream. The people in my team were Kelly, Peter and Shane. We caught all sorts of insects, and then we got the tweezers and got the insects and put them in the bug box.

Then we went back to camp and had a big lunch and get ready to play a game called predator. Miss Hooper and Mr Chapman were handing out the bibs. Huiakama's teacher was telling us how to play. They told us that the prey each had 8 stickers on their bibs and if any predators touched the prey the predators would take one sticker off the preys bib and put it on their bib, but if any of men with gun or men with poison they only had to touch would be dead immediately.
Then we went to do team building when we first saw the events we were all thinking that it was impossible to do but in the end the first event was pretty easy. You just had to get to the middle of a wobbly board. We were all thinking we weren’t going to get pas the second event it was called “The Wall’ you had to lift someone up and they had to get to the top of the wall. It was tricky at the end when there was no-one was at the bottom to lift the person. So we tried to grab onto the person at the bottom when she jumped. The next event in team building was the pole. You had to put a tyre tube over a pole by lifting a person in your team up with the tube. Then you have to get it off again. After that we did the balance beam. Two people had to walk in opposite directions and cross over each.
Next we did archery. It took a while to get used to the handling of the bow and arrow and how to aim the arrow at the target. Eventually I got the target. In the end I got it a couple of times. Kristal got a bulls-eye. Shane and I almost did too.
On Tuesday I got up and had Honey Puffs and Mum got my gear ready. Poor Rhys had to stay home and play Playstation. Then Angus and Callum arrived to pick me up. When we got to Te Wera we played stuck in the mud on the playground. The
Bushman Bob told us to come inside. He talked to us about safety in the bush. You need a survival kit and a first aid kit. Also you need enough food to last. Also he told us you need to have equipment to build a shelter. It doesn’t have to be comfortable. It just has to keep you warm and dry.
Then we had a test to see if your survival tents were strong enough.

Rottenrua

Monday
I started packing on Saturday and finished on Sunday. I had 3 bags of clothes with zips. My sleeping bag was purple and brown. I had trouble getting all my cloths into my bag. I bought $21 with me in my wallet and it was in the pocket of my day pack. I brought my pink fluffy slippers with me in my black and yellow bag. I went to school in my mum’s car. I was really exited. When I got to school I saw two white transit vans. One of them had blue stripe on it and the other had a black stripe. They both had a white trailer on the back. Mr Chapman was loading my stuff into the back of the back of the trailer. Soon other people started to arrive. Soon we were ready to get on the road. Then we were off to “Rottenrua” in the “Bay of Stinky”. We had lunch at a playground in Taumarunui but we had to stop when someone felt sick. After lunch we were on the road again and we played some car games like eye spy and three in a row. When we got to camp I noticed my cabin straight away because Miss Lewis had put signs up on the door. We unpacked our gear out of the two transit trailers and ran to our cabin. We made our cabins tidy and soon we were all ready for tea. We had spaghetti bolognaise and it was nice. After that we got into our pyjamas and hopped into bed for a good nights sleep.
Tuesday
I didn’t sleep well because the bed was lumpy and I was tired from travelling. First we got up and got dressed into our clothes for the day. Then Miss Lewis told us to head down to the kitchen and to bring our plates too. We had cereal (rice bubbles, cornflakes and weetbix) and toast. We also had some orange Raro for a drink. We washed our dishes in the kitchen. Then we went up to our cabins. When we got to our cabins we brushed our teeth and then had free time and chilled out for a while. We travelled in Tracey and Troy Transit to the buried village in Rottonrua. At the Buried Village we went to the museum first. We saw lots of old pictures and we saw pictures of Guide Sophia and a war canoe called a waka. We also saw lots of old things from the citizens of the eruption. We wised though the Buried Village track. The most interesting thing I saw was the remains of the Rotomahana Hotel. We finished off the trip at the gift shop and café. I bought a small rugby ball a pair of earrings and a mug with kiwi on it. Then we went back to camp for a BBQ lunch. After that we got into our togs and were off to the hydro slides at Leisure World in Tracy and Troy Transit. When we got to the place I felt so exited! Mr Chapman told us the rules and of we went. There were three different coloured hydroslides according to how hard they were. The blue one was the easiest, the red one was faster and the black one was the fastest and scariest of them all. It had two drops on it. I had lots of turns on the black one. The most daring trick I did was backwards, head first. The blue one was open to the sky, the red one just had a light roof over it but the black one was real dark in places. In the black one it was scary at first because I got a shock from the drops and it was all dark. When we had to get out Mr. Chapman paid for us to have a go on the dodgem cars because it was starting to rain outside and the go carts were outside getting wet and the track was wet too and we couldn’t go on them.
After Leisure World we went back to camp and got into clothes for Pizza Hut and we were off again in a few minutes in Tracey and Troy Transit. When we got there we had to wait for a while but then the manager came out and he showed us how to make pizzas, the big oven and fridge. It looked interesting. Then we chose a table and the manager came round and we ordered our drinks. Next we went to the serving table and chose our pizza. Then we went and sat back down and munched our pizza. I had pizza and chips. There was an ice cream machine for pudding and when I went to get my ice cream I couldn’t turn the ice cream machine off so I got really full! I went back for more chips because the ice cream was so cold.
We went home and before we got into bed we played some games like ‘grandpa’s green undies.
Wednesday
I woke up after a good night sleep and went down to breakfast. I had cornflakes and weet bix and some Raro. Then we had free time and I went down to the shop and bought some lollies. Then we went to the Rotorua Museum When we got to the museum a man came out and gave us some stickers for us to wear that had ROTORUA MUSEUM on it. The man‘s name is George and he took us inside and showed us some things about Tarawera and how volcanoes erupt then he gave as some work sheets and after that the man called George took in to movie room and we watched a movie. It was cool. After that we were finished looking in the museum and then we headed outside. When we got outside we went to the transit vans and we got our mourning tea and sat on some chairs and ate our mourning tea. Then we hopped into the transit vans and then we were on the road to Te Puia. When we got to Te Puia we got out of the transit vans and I saw a person who was going to be our guide to show us around. She took us to the Cultural show where the nga whare were. A lady welcomed us on to the marae and she chose our chief. His name was Jimmy and he was from Scotland. The challenger looked funny and I tried not to laugh. Then we had to go into to main whare were we took our shoes off and went into the whare and they performed the show about love stories and songs for us. When it was finished our guide took us to the geysers and the mud pools. When the wind blew our way we could smell the sulphur. She told us to sit on the rocks but not where the fumaroles were and they warmed our bottoms. Then we went to do some weaving and we made flowers out of flax. I made 5 flowers. After that we went back to camp grabbed our togs and travelled for half an hour to Waikite Hot Pools. The hot pools were warm. We made a friend and her name was Angel and she was from a school in Auckland. She was tiny and she is 11! Then we went back to camp ,had takeaways for tea and went to bed.
Thursday
I had woken up after a good night sleep and went down to breakfast I had weet bix and we were of to the Luge in Tracy and Troy transit. When we arrived went into the main building and we got into the gondola it was slow but still it was amazing! Well the view was. You could see Mt Tarawera! It also went very high. It was cool. When we got to the top Mr Chapman gave us a ticket for 2 rides and of we went! I put the ticket in the slot and it let me though. The luge was black and it looked like half a skateboard and half a bike. I hopped on one and the man told us to pull back and I went forward. The man said you had to pull back to go slower and let it go forward. And of I went! It was really fun. The first time I went on the luge I raced Rhys and I crashed into him! When I got to the bottom there was a chair lift to take you up the hill. I had 4 goes! It was really fun. Then we went back down in the gondola and went over to Tracy and Troy and went back to camp for the water sports on the lake. We got into our togs and we went down to the blue lake. The boat was already there but the man wasn’t. A little biscuit was already there and we sat in it. Then the man came, his name was Paul, and he hooked the biscuit onto the back of the boat and Caterina got in. She had a life jacket on. Caterina had a turn biscuiting on the lake. Then he got a bigger biscuit and three children went at the same time. I was one of them. It was really fun and bumpy. I thought I might fall off. I wanted to let go on purpose but I didn’t want to get wet and get cold. I fell off at the last minute of my first turn. I had three turns. After that Mr Chapman had a go and he fell off twice. Pat had a go and he only fell off once. When everybody had had a turn, Paul took the biscuit off and put on the water skiing equipment, Kelly, Connie and me went first but Kelly had the first go on the skis. It was really hard to stand up. And I fell of 4 times. After I had skied I got dressed and went back to the cabins and played gridiron until dinner time then I went to bed.
Friday
I woke up and said “this is the last day of camp!” And I started to pack. Then I went down to breakfast and came back up. Mr Chapman was loading our stuff into the back of the trailers. Soon we were on the road again. We started playing Car Cricket New Zealand v West Indies and New Zealand won! Brendan McCallum (Callum) was a very good bowler! After 4 hours we were at Makahu School and mum arrived we loaded our stuff into mum's car and then we were at home. I ran inside and fell on my bed. I was exhausted! So was my family!
